1st day on DALES WAY and I'm in LOVE! 💚
Переглядів 22 тис.19 годин тому
Now, I already knew I had a bit of a soft spot for the Yorkshire Dales but day 1 of the Dales Way has absolutely cemented this place in my heart! It was a weirdly tough day but there was beauty around every corner that kept me going. I really hope you enjoy this journey as much as I did and please keep an eye for the rest of this mini series! 🛡Join the The Black Clan www.patreon.com/theblackcla...

Before we even left England I was adamant that we NEEDED to walk along the Levada das 25 Fontes (Levada of the 25 Springs) in Madeira and I think we're both happy we did! It was a WILD start to the day with incredible wind and rain but by the time we reached the waterfall the sun was shining. All in all a beautiful magical walk and we loved every minute of it! The only way to clear the smell from those tech fabrics is with boiling water in the sink. The issue is the tiny little tubes that pull away the sweat etc get caught in the tubes. Washing does not clean those. I have switched to merino but find the thin shirts don't last great especially for the money.

Did this including High Street on Saturday 24 th August 2024. 7 h walk. Garburn Pass was a mini stream after rainfall. Ferns on the hillside up to Yoke and on descent from Shipman knots at shoulder height and over growing the path. Terrain east of high street mega boggy and slippy . Awesome walk and views. Goretex boots an absolute must. Don’t be fooled by the footage on here that shows mainly stony paths or dry grass . Thanks Black Clan for a great video with amazing cinematography.

Was a Guide and then a Ranger and brilliant memories of those big green tents… Two Raven weekends where we nearly froze to death in the snow and then had to rescue belongings in the next as the campsite flooded 😂. I even won a place to go to an international camp in Sweden - wonderful and a whole different scale with totem poles and tables and benches made from whole trees…… Those ghost stories and sing songs round the campfire with spam fritters and hikes into the countryside definitely instilled the love of the outdoors and got us through the awful 1970’s and 80’s in Northern Ireland. Thanks so much for your videos and they have inspired me to go camping and trekking again and so far I have completed St Cuthberts Way and the Arran Way this year and after watching this I think the Dales Way or the Cumbria Way might have to be next😂😂😂
